Menzies Aviation Case Study

The challenge

Menzies Aviation started trading in Edinburgh way back in 1833. Since that time, they have developed to become a critical partner in the global aviation industry, delivering time-critical logistics services at over 250 locations in more than 60 countries, across six continents. In 2010 Menzies began the task of trying to centralise their UK archive of personnel files, which until now were stored at various airport locations across the country. The existing physical storage solution was causing issues and incurring significant staffing costs, who were struggling to locate the required documentation.

The solution

Given their global positioning and remote working environments, Menzies favoured a digital solution and procured the services of Paper Escape to safeguard and scan their entire UK archive and backlog of personnel records. This included the collection of records from a number of UK airport branches

“We selected Paper Escape from a number of suppliers and have not looked back since”

The result

In just a short space of time, Paper Escape had digitised an entire backlog consisting of over 25,000 personnel files. Files were centralised on a secure network within their main IT infrastructure, where the Menzies in-house human resources department were able to locate files almost instantly. The solution was so impressive that is was quickly adopted by other branches and departments across the organisation. After the chosen retention period for the originals had expired, Paper Escape securely destroyed (shredded) and recycled the original paper documents.

Paper Escape continue to enjoy a longstanding relationship with Menzies Aviation. For over fifteen years, we have been digitising, storing and shredding confidential records and continue to do so to this very day.
